Searching for W.H.B. Web

William Henry Brown was my great grandfather. An elusive figure, he had written a biography of JM Barry, the author of Peter Pan and Wendy, prompting my mother to name me Wendy. I was also told he had written a book on the Rochdale Pioneers, and that he had disinherited my grandmother. My brother’s discovery that the National Co-operative Archive held 10 boxes of his papers enabled me to dig a bit harder in search of my roots.
